Who is Samson? Samson was a judge during the time of Judah, he was a renegade who tormented the Philistines who had an oppressive hold on the land and people of Judah. He possessed supernatural strength, given to him by the Spirit of the Lord, and it was with this strength he was able to perform vengeful acts against his oppressors.
When three thousand of Samson's own people sought out to capture and turn him in, Samson allowed the people of Judah to bound his wrists and turn him over to the Philistines.
As the Philistine warriors shouted and charged at Samson, the Spirit of the Lord came over him in power and the ropes that bound him dropped from his wrists, and seeing a fresh jawbone of a donkey, picked it up and slew one thousand Philistine warriors.
